From October 8 to 13, 1978, the 9th International Congress of Concrete and Precast Industry took place in the Hofburg in Vienna. In the foreground of the congress was the exchange of experiences of the then 22 member associations of the International Association of Concrete and Precast Industry (BIBM). It represents 12,000 concrete and precast plants around the world. The conference focused on concrete technology, planning and execution, new products and processes, marketing and public relations, economic aspects and social issues in the concrete and precast industry, and the present and future of BIBM. The aim was to provide the concrete and precast industry with new insights, experiences and considerations in the time that was difficult for them at that time, and thus to actively shape the future prospects of this economic sector. Responsible for hosting the congress was the Verband Österreichischer Beton- und Fertigteilwerke (VÖB) with its headquarters in Linz.
