After the end of the First World War, Austria was not only politically but above all economically in a difficult position. The traditional sales territories were lost, so that new markets became necessary. Twice a year, merchants from the countries of Central and Southeastern Europe should have the opportunity to conduct their business in Vienna for one week each in March and September. The International Viennese Fairs were born. The importance of these major economic events in the various countries necessitated the establishment of a Union of International Fairs (UFI) for internationally coordinated activities. This happened in 1925 in Milan with representatives of 19 fairs from 12 states. Since the first congress in Milan, the following have been held regularly each year in various exhibition cities. After a war-related interruption, these conventions were resumed in 1947. In the fifties there was a split in general trade fairs and trade fairs. Vienna held the congress for the second time, expecting representatives of 81 fairs from all over the world. Numerous technical problems that could only be solved internationally were discussed in Vienna. The brand image shows the main portal of the exhibition area in the Prater.
