Special cancellations from March 20 to May 19, 1990 Important personalities Friedrich Adolph Wilhelm Diesterweg is one of the outstanding figures of pedagogy of the 19th century in Germany. He is one of the great inspirers and fighters for a school of the people and the human right to education. His goal was a common "basic education" for all, a general elementary school, ensuring equal educational opportunities for all children. He demanded to ensure the uniformity and permeability of education from kindergarten to university, the school understood as a state institution. He advocated a policy and education aimed at humanity in social relations and in the relationship between peoples. His democratic educational program, which he combined with social, cultural and church political demands, he has continued to shape in his pedagogic journalism, as a parliamentarian in the Prussian Chamber of Deputies (1858-1866), as a co-initiator and promoter of German elementary teacher associations. Diesterweg's work covers all the main areas of education, ranging from the definition of the aims of education to the methodological details of almost all the subjects of the German school of the 19th century. The most sustainable was his translator in several languages "pioneer education for German teachers", who experienced four editions during the lifetime of the educator in Germany.
