Special cancellation from 5 June to 4 August 1990 11th stamp exhibition of the youth, hall 1990 For the eleventh time a national stamp exhibition of the youth of the GDR takes place. For the third time after 1966 and 1973 Halle is hosting the young philatelists. Organized by the Philatelistenverband, the exhibition can be seen from June 29 to July 2, 1990, in two corporate culture centers in the city hall. Again, this 11th exhibition will demonstrate to what extent philately is a useful cultural leisure activity, providing knowledge and insights, helping to develop skills and abilities, and thus contributing to the education and training of young people. Such pedagogical effect will be reflected in the colorful variety of exhibits that boys and girls from all districts of the GDR have built for their enjoyment of this hobby. The history of philatelic GDR youth exhibitions began in Halle in 1966, and since then there have been nine other predecessors of the 11th in 1970 in Karl-Marx-Stadt, 1973 again in Halle, 1976 in Gera, 1978 in Cottbus, 1980 in Zella-Mehlis , 1982 in Schwerin and Dresden, 1984 in Magdeburg, 1986 in Berlin and 1988 in Erfurt and Karl-Marx-Stadt. Since the 2nd exhibition in 1970 GDR postage stamps for these highlights of the Jugendphilatelie have always been published. Since 1976, it has been customary to report on brands with an intermediate field from the past and present of the venues. This will continue in 1990. The mark to 10 + 5 Pfennig shows a view of Halles early 18th century, so at a time when the city developed as a Brandenburg-Prussian border town against Kursachsen (since 1680), settled Huguenots and Palatinate of traditional salt production textile and The young university (founded in 1694) flourished, and the Francke Foundations (also founded in 1694) had just begun their pedagogical work.
