10th Stamp Exhibition of the Youth 1988 in Erfurt and Karl-Marx-Stadt On the occasion of the 10th Stamp Exhibition of the Youth 1988 in Erfurt and Karl-Marx-Stadt, the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications of the German Democratic Republic are two multi-colored se-tenants with two special postage stamps and Intermediate field out. Two special postage stamps contain a surcharge, which is made available to the Philatelistenverband in the cultural association of the GDR. Special cancellation from June 21 to August 20, 1988 10. Stamp Exhibition of the Youth of the GDR For the tenth time a national stamp exhibition of the youth of the GDR takes place. For the second time there are two venues: Erfurt from September 23rd to October 2nd with the exhibits of the 16- to 26-year-olds and Karl-Marx-Stadt as part of the Pioneer Meeting from August 13th to 22nd with the objects of children and adolescents until the age of 15 In Erfurt, the iga site will be host to the Philatelie, in Karl-Marx-Stadt the exhibition will find its place in the Stadthalle. The history of the philatelic GDR youth exhibitions begins in 1966 in Halle, which in 1973 once again hosted. In 1970 Karl-Marx-Stadt organized this event for the first time, followed by Gera (1976), Cottbus (1978), Zella-Mehlis (1980), Schwerin and Dresden (1982), Magdeburg (1984) and Berlin (1986). The 1988 exhibition is dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the German November Revolution and the founding of the KPD. It will bear witness to how philately as a pastime is also useful in youth work in order to convey and deepen knowledge and insights, develop skills and abilities, and thus contribute to the education and training of young communists. The organizer of the exhibition is the Philatelistenverband in the cultural association of the GDR. Since the 2nd stamp exhibition of the youth of the GDR in 1970, postage stamps for these highlights have always been published. Since 1976, it has been customary to report on brands with an intermediate field from the past and present of the venues. This will continue in 1988. The mark to 20 + 5 Pfennig shows Chemnitz around 1620, so at a time when it was already the center of the textile industry and had not suffered under the Thirty Years' War. The intermediate fields bear the coat of arms: for Erfurt in red a floating six-spoke silver wheel and Karl-Marx-Stadt in gold two blue piles, gold in the back a red-armored black lion, symbols of the once ruling Wettin.
