Technical Monuments - Trams The Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications of the German Democratic Republic publishes four multi-colored special postage stamps depicting historical trams. Special cancellation from May 20 to July 19, 1986 Historical trams 20 Pfennig value: Leipzig tram 1896 The vehicle belongs to one of the "Breslauer AG for railway cars, Wroclaw (now Wroclaw, PR Poland), Lokomotiv- und Wagenbauanstalt Linke-Hofmann "for the" Great Leipzig tram "delivered series of 135 railcars. The 8,500 mm long railcar (1,800 mm axle spacing) has a total of 34 seats, including 20 seats (longitudinal seats) inside the car. The design of the car body with open platforms, Umsetzgittern at the entrances, small window division, longitudinal seats and lantern roof over the car interior still has significant features of the trolley cars. Above all, the electric drive has been added: a drive motor with today's seemingly modest output of 18 kW. The brake system already consists of two independently acting brakes, the air brake as a service brake and the hand brake as a parking brake. The electrical energy is taken from the catenary via a pantograph. The motor coaches of this type were used for the most part until 1925/30 in the regular service.
