Technical Monuments - Trams The Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications of the German Democratic Republic publishes four multi-colored special postage stamps depicting historical trams. Special cancellation from May 20 to July 19, 1986 Historic trams 10-pfennig value: Dresden Horse Tram 1886 Of this type of vehicle were 1886 by the wagon factory Brill, Philadelphia / USA, 14 pieces for the operated in Dresden horse tram of the former "Transways Compony of Germany Limited "(based in London). The car has a total of 28 seats, of which twelve arranged as longitudinal seats in the car seats. The length of the car body is 6,100 mm (originally 5,780 mm), the center distance 1,430 mm. Characteristic of the then prevailing design is the small window distribution. The roof is designed above the car interior as a lantern roof. On the platforms there are convertible grids on the entrances, which allowed the passenger change only on one side. In some horse train companies was initially allowed on both sides and get out. The original brake equipment consisted only of a crank operated handbrake. The vehicle shown is one of the most typical of the horse-drawn railway time. Wagons in this basic design were present in all 22 former horse-drawn railway companies in the territory of the GDR. Since 1957 this vehicle can be visited in the Transport Museum Dresden.
