Leipzig Autumn Fair 1985 On the occasion of the Leipzig Autumn Fair 1985, the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications of the German Democratic Republic publishes two multicolored special postage stamps. Special cancellation from 27th August to 26th October 1985 25 Pfennig value: Bach trumpet "Meister Johannes Scherzer" The Bach trumpet "Meister Johannes Scherzer" is produced by the VEB Blechblas- und Signal-Instrumente-Fabrik Markneukirchen. This instrument is from the master metalwind instrument maker Johannes Scherzer, b. on August 10, 1922. Johannes Scherzer is the winner of the "Honorary Prize for Outstanding Achievements in Musical Instrument Making in the GDR". Thus, his work was especially honored in the field of qualitative development of the instruments. The soloist instruments made by him and his collective are coveted in many countries as sounding treasures. The Bach trumpet "Meister Johannes Scherzer" is in D tuned, as compositions of the Baroque (17th / 18th century) were written in this mood. The instrument is not a replica, but adapted to the current classical form. It is ideal for training students at conservatories. The Bach trumpets are played in top orchestras of the GDR and in conservatoires. Leading orchestras or music groups play the instrument, so u.a. the Bach Orchestra of the Gewandhaus Leipzig, the Kammerorchester Berlin, the Neue Bachsche Kollegium Musicum Leipzig, the wind ensemble "Ludwig Güttler" Dresden, the Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra Dresden and the Handel Festival Orchestra Halle. The Bach trumpet "Meister Johannes Scherzer" is also appreciated abroad. B. exported to France, Sweden, Denmark, Switzerland and Japan.
