Meritorious Personalities of the German Workers' Movement, Edition 1984 The Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications of the German Democratic Republic publishes three commemorative postage stamps depicting deserving personalities of the German labor movement. No special first day cover envelope Special cancellation from January 24 to March 23 Fritz Große Born on 5 February 1904 as the son of a carpenter in Altenberg (Erzgebirge). After attending elementary school until 1920 active in a woodworking factory in Reifland. 1918 Member of the German Timber Workers Association. In 1920 he left for Soviet Russia, where he joined the Red Army and a few months later joined the Communist Party of Russia (Bolsheviks). 1921 return to Germany. In the same year admission as member of the KPD and 1922 of the Communist youth Germany (KJD). 1922-1923 head of the subdistrict of KJD Siegmar-Hohnstein. 1923 co-founder of the proletarian Hundreds. 1924-1927 member of the district leadership of the KJD Chemnitz and the Communist Youth Association of Germany (KJVD) and the district leadership of the KPD Erzgebirge-Vogtland. 1925-1932 member of the CC of the KJVD. 1929 election to the candidate of the Central Committee of the KPD. 1929-1930 Organization Secretary in the Central Committee of the KJVD. Until 1932 he was a member of the Executive Committee of the Communist Youth International (KJI) and the enforcement office of the Red Trade Union International. 1931-1932 representative of the Executive Committee of the KJI in England. Returned to Germany in 1932 and appointed Chairman of the Central Committee of the KJVD in October on the suggestion of Ernst Thälmann. Faced with the threat of a fascist dictatorship, he consistently advocated cooperation between the KJVD and the Socialist Workers Youth. 1932 member of the KPD in the Reichstag. After the establishment of the fascist dictatorship lead the illegal anti-fascist resistance struggle of the KJVD. By order of the KPD 1933 emigration first to the Soviet Union and later to France. 1934 return to Germany. From 1934 to 1936 remand in Dusseldorf and Berlin. 1936 sentenced to life imprisonment. 1936 to 1944 imprisonment in the Brandenburg penitentiary and 1944 deportation to the concentration camp Mauthausen or in its outer camp Ammstätten and Ebensee. In the penitentiary Brandenburg member of the illegal party activism and in the concentration camp Mauthausen of the party leadership. After liberation from the concentration camp Ebensee stay in Moscow. In July 1945 returned to Berlin with Wilhelm Pieck and other comrades. Since July 1945 Head of Personnel Policy Department in the State Government of the KPD Saxony. Delegate at the 15th Party Congress of the KPD and the Association Party Congress of the KPD and SPD to the SED. After establishment of the SED member of the national executive committee of the SED Saxonia and its secretariat and from 1946 to 1949 member of the Saxonian Landtag. 1948 to 1949 Chairman of the State Control Commission of the State of Saxony. 1949 to 1952 Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the GDR in the CSR. 1953 Head of Department and Member of the College in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He earned special merit in socialist foreign policy and in increasing the international reputation of the GDR. Fritz Große died on December 12, 1957 in Berlin.
