Around 3,000 athletes (active and coaches), 5,000 officials and members of the press and some 10,000 spectators will be in the third largest city of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, with its magnificent mountain massifs of Bjelasnica (2,067 m), Jahorina (1,913 m), The Igman (1,190 m) and the Trebevic (1,647 m) offer ideal winter sports conditions and a unique panorama for the XIV Olympic Winter Games. 35-pfennig value: Biathlon Biathlon competitions are held on the grounds of the Igman (Velikopolje), on which almost 60 km of running tracks have been developed, a combination of cross-country skiing and shooting. From 1980, the competition rules have been changed for the biathlon competitions included in the Olympic program since 1960. The small-caliber rifle replaced the carbine. This created clearer shooting ranges, which can also be better observed by the spectators. Biathlon is a sport with many surprises for competitors and spectators.
