Special cancellation from 8th March to 7th May 1983 10 Pfennig value: "Petershof" trade fair center The Petershof trade fair venue, which was given its purpose for the Leipzig Spring Fair in 1929, is today not only known as an international trading venue. It has also been given a good name in the world by another tradition, which is still relatively young but politically very important. Since 1955, every year in November, it has become the meeting place of film and television producers and journalists from over 50 countries for the International Leipzig Documentary and Short Film Week for Cinema and Television. In 1982 the 25th Filmfesttage took place. Under the motto of "Movies of the World - for Peace of the World" and Pablo Picasso's Peace Dove as a signet, this festival has earned a top international reputation. In the basement of the house is the film set "Capitol", one of the largest movie theaters in the GDR. The interesting plot history of the object can be traced back to the 15th century. It also reflects a piece of urban historical development. The building complex - which is bounded by Petersstraße, Sporergasse, Burgstraße and Thomaskirchhof - owes its name to its location, the former Petersviertel. Centuries ago, it opened the way for merchants from the southern European area via Petersstraße to the market and thus to the Leipzig Trade Fair. The architect of the new fair house, completed in February 1929, was the Leipzig Alfred Liebig. After his designs were selected as the best in an advertised competition, he was also given the artistic construction management of the Petershof. The trade fair center, which today has an exhibition area of 10,500 square meters, is available to the musical instruments, toys, decorative and festive articles industries over 50 years ago. These products have always been among the most exportable consumer goods in our country. On the first floor of the Petershof, foreign exporters of food and luxury goods have been domiciled for years. They belong to the product range of the "Messehof", which is located in the immediate vicinity of Petershof - also in Petersstraße.
