Leipziger Spring Fair 1982 At the Leipzig Spring Fair 1982, the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications of the German Democratic Republic issued two multi-colored special postage stamps. Special cancellation from March 9 to May 8, 1982 25-pfennig value: Pipe bank After four years of construction, a new pipe plant in Riesa / Zeithain commenced production in September 1979. There, seamless steel tubes with a diameter range of 20 to 89 mm outer diameter and wall thicknesses of 2.6 to 6.5 mm are manufactured according to the effective tube extrusion process in high quality. The VEB SKET-Ingan, the Vitkovice ironworks "Klement Gottwald" and the Yugoslavian construction company Komgrap played a special role in the construction. With this modern plant, the economic needs of the GDR can be met with seamless steel tubes with significantly improved surface quality, reduced wall thickness eccentricity and ready-made design. The motif of the stamp shows a section of the hot part of the Rohrstoßbankanlage. In the foreground is the punch press and in the background the Rohrstoßbank shown. Both units form the most important equipment in the forming process of the heat-rolled square billet into a seamless steel tube. They determine to a large extent the more accurate wall thickness tolerance and the improved inner and outer surface quality of the steel pipes. This modern tube mill allows flexible adaptation to customer requirements, changes in requirements and rolling of seamless steel tubes in the minus tolerance range.
