Important Personalities, Edition 1981 The Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications of the German Democratic Republic publishes six special postage stamps with illustrations of important personalities. No special First Day Cover Special cancellation from May 5 to July 4, 1981 Important personalities 5O Pfennig value: Adelbert v. Chr. Chamisso (January 30, 1781 to August 21, 1838) He was a botanist, zoologist, geographer and poet. The academy in Berlin, the today's academy of the sciences of the GDR, selected him, who belonged to the important natural scientists and ethnographers of its time, 1835 to the regular member. Chamisso participated in the research expedition from 1815 to 1818, under the direction of O. v.. Kotzebue circumnavigated the world.
