No special first-day cover envelope Special cancellation from February 24 to April 23, 1981 Conrad Blenkle was born on December 28, 1901 in Berlin, the son of a locksmith. In early 1919, as a young baker's journeyman, he joined the Free Socialist Youth and the KPD, and in 1920 he joined the free trade unions. His main political activity until 1928 was youth work. As a member of the district administration Berlin-Brandenburg, as a member of the Central Committee and since 1924 as chairman of the Communist Youth Association, he made a significant contribution to the realization of youth work of the Communist Party. He was a member of the Central Committee of the KPD and its Politburo from 1925 to 1929 and from 1924 to 1935 a member of the Executive Committee of the Communist Youth International. Because of his consistent appearance as the youngest member of the Reichstag of the KPD (1928-1933) against the anti-national and anti-social policy of German imperialism, he was arrested in 1931 and sentenced in February 1932 to 1 1/2 years fortress. After his dismissal Conrad Blenkle carried out for the Central Committee of the KPD nine years in the illegality in Germany and later from Saarbruecken, Amsterdam, Zurich and Copenhagen from an extensive anti-fascist work. As a member of the district leadership, leader or member of various sections of the KPD, he had a large share in the organization of the fight against Hitler fascism. In December 1941, Conrad Blenkle was arrested by the Danish police, extradited to the Gestapo, sentenced to death and murdered on January 20, 1943 in the Berlin-Plötzensee Prison.
