Important Personalities, Edition 1978 To commemorate important personalities, the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications of the German Democratic Republic issues seven special postage stamps. No special first-day envelope Special cancellation from 18 July to 17 September 1978 25-pfennig value: THEODOR BRUGSCH (11 October 1878 to 11 July 1963) Brugsch was an encyclopedist of medicine as a researcher and physician. His scientific work included almost all areas of internal medicine - the constitutional theory, liver diseases, diphtheria, the circulation u. a. Brugsch worked from 1910 to 1926 as a professor at the University of Berlin, then until 1936 in Halle. After the destruction of fascism, he actively put himself at the service of anti-fascist-democratic reconstruction in the GDR today. As a full professor at the Humboldt University and director of the 1st Medical Clinic and Polyclinic of the Charité and - from 1946 to 1949 - as Vice President of the German Administration for Popular Education he has made a significant contribution to the development of medical science and research in the GDR. The government of the GDR praised its achievements by highest honors. Brugsch belonged to today's Academy of Sciences of the GDR since 1949.
