Special cancellation from 21 September to 20 November 1978 Common space flight USSR - GDR 10-pfennig value: spacecraft Soyuz and portrait of Albert Einstein The first research cosmonaut of the GDR, Sigmund Jähn, flew with the spacecraft Soyuz 31 (here in section) to the orbital station Salut 6 and returned to Earth with Soyuz 29. On board the orbital complex, he and his three Soviet comrades conducted about 22 different scientific experiments in about 60 working hours, which were used to explore the earth and protect the environment, testing novel materials and biological, medical and psychological studies. With his daring flight, he acted in the spirit of best German discoverer and inventor traditions, as created by Albert Einstein (1879 - 1955), the greatest natural scientist of our century, with his special and general theory of relativity as essential foundations of modern cosmos research.
