Solidarity In support of international solidarity, the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications of the German Democratic Republic issues a multicolored special postage stamp with surcharge. The sums collected will be made available to the Solidarity Committee of the GDR. Special cancellation from October 18 to December 17, 1977 Solidarity The motif Faust with Torch is a historically grown symbol of the international anti-imperialist solidarity movement. It is reflected in the emblem of the Organization for Afro-Asian Ethnic Solidarity (AAPSO); In many African and Asian countries, it symbolizes the fight against racism and colonialism, national self-determination and independence. Also the solidarity committee of the GDR, which coordinates the solidarity actions of the social organizations, institutions and citizens of the republic, took over the torch Faust motive as symbol of the solidarity movement in the GDR. Internationalist solidarity was, is and remains in the GDR state policy and the heart of the people at the same time. It is part of everyday life in the German workers 'and peasants' state and is an expression of the lively application of the principles of proletarian internationalism founded by Marx, Engels and Lenin. Under the leadership of the working-class party, the idea and practice of solidarity in our republic developed into a true popular movement. Solidarity lives in the actions of the party, the unions, the youth association and many other organizations. It becomes an ever stronger political, moral, but also material force. The ever-growing donations from all walks of life allow the Solidarity Committee to provide even greater and more effective support to the peoples of Africa, Asia and Latin America in their fight against imperialism, racism and neo-colonialism. This assistance extends from the supply of food, medicines and other everyday necessities to the establishment of businesses to the training of skilled workers and specialists. Thus, the GDR joins the world-embracing anti-imperialist solidarity movement, which has become a great power. The power of solidarity becomes apparent, if one considers only the progressive development in the former Portuguese colonies, the free states of Angola, Mozambique and Guinea-Bissau, in the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, in the VDR Laos, to name only a few examples. The achievements of our solidarity are milestones in the struggle for the liberation of all peoples. The victorious victories reinforce our determination: solidarity continues! Now all the more!
