At both fairs, hunting weapons and watches are also on display in the Messehaus am Markt. The trade fair "interscola", which presents teaching materials, equipment and furniture for educational institutions from the GDR and abroad, dominates the Messemesse am Markt during the autumn fair. The purpose-oriented complex solutions offered by the GDR for the most diverse pedagogical areas are a convincing demonstration of the high level of achievement of the socialist education system in the GDR. In the period between fairs, the fair house on the market for many special events such as the domestic trade fairs of the GDR, the district art exhibition, special sales of department stores u.a. used. From May 6 to June 5, 1977, the next edition of the International Book Art Exhibition (iba '77), hosted by the Leipzig City Council and the Börsenverein der Deutschen Buchhändler Leipzig, will take place in the Messehaus am Markt. 50 years after the first International Book Art Exhibition in 1927 and after the exhibitions of 1959, 1965 and 1971, which attracted great international attention, the book city of Leipzig continues a good tradition with the 1977 exhibition.
