The theater makers of the German Democratic Republic fulfill the legacy of this artist and revolutionary, since 1958 in the "Hans Otto Competition" for best results in artistic production, in the appropriation of the Marxist-Leninist world view and in the consolidation of the Alliance with the wrestle leading working class. The socialist competition of the theatrical artists organized by the trade union Kunst bears the name of Hans Otto, because Hans Otto himself was a revolutionary trade union official who insisted on advocating the interests of his colleagues.
