Important Personalities, Edition 1975 The Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications of the German Democratic Republic publishes five special postage stamps with portraits of important personalities. No special first-day cover envelope 5 Pfennig value: Hans Otto Hans Otto, born on 10 August 1900, was a young, talented actor with the best prospects for a great artist career. He was a conscious, staunch Communist, a loyal ally of the working class who fought against fascism through his life. On November 24, 1933, nine days after his arrest, he was murdered by fascist executioners. The Hitler fascists forbade to announce his death because they feared public outrage over this murder. In the 30th year of the liberation of our people from fascism, Hans Otto would have turned 75 years old. The theater makers of the German Democratic Republic fulfill the legacy of this artist and revolutionary, since 1958 in the "Hans Otto Competition" for best results in artistic production, in the appropriation of the Marxist-Leninist world view and in the consolidation of the Alliance with the wrestle leading working class. The socialist competition of the theatrical artists organized by the trade union Kunst bears the name of Hans Otto, because Hans Otto himself was a revolutionary trade union official who insisted on advocating the interests of his colleagues.
