X. World Festival of Youth and Students 1973 in Berlin, capital of the GDR For the Xth World Festival of Youth and Students 1973 in Berlin, capital of the GDR, the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications of the German Democratic Republic issued a multi-colored special postage stamp block. No Special First Day Cover X. World Festival of Youth and Students The X. World Festival is being prepared and carried out at a time when new preconditions have arisen to broaden and consolidate the anti-imperialist front of youth. "Since the IXth Festival in Sofia, the stream of forces fighting against imperialism and its policies of war, exploitation and oppression has steadily grown and strengthened its positions, with new encouraging perspectives open to revolutionary, progressive and democratic forces The youth and students have been actively involved in the social and political struggles of the peoples and have strengthened their role in the anti - imperialist struggle for national and social liberation, for independence and freedom, for democracy and social progress, for the development of human rights dynamically connected to a new society. " (From: "Appointment of Inaugural Consultation of the International Preparatory Committee for the Xth World Youth Festival and Students, January 19-20, 1972 in Sofia") More organizations than ever before have joined the festival's movement. Already half a year before the X. World Festival, National Preparatory Committees had been constituted in 75 countries of all continents. In the composition of most of these committees a great breadth has been achieved, e.g. in Finland and Panama, where 40 youth and student organizations each participate in National Preparatory Committees, as well as in a number of other European, Latin American, South American and African countries such as Denmark, Germany, Peru, Lebanon and others. Since the second session of the IVK, representatives of 62 countries have been actively involved in the work of the International Preparatory Committee for the 10th World Festival. The permanent commission chosen by him includes representatives from 18 national and 4 international organizations. The Xth World Festival will bear witness to the aspirations of the younger generation of our time for solidarity, peace and friendship, and to be a great demonstration of the unity of youth in anti-imperialist struggle. They will continue the rich traditions of previous festivals. "The X. Festival will reflect all the major issues of our time that are affecting young people and students, as well as the full diversity of today's struggle to achieve common goals, and it will be a highlight and a new stage in their struggle."
