Special postage stamp booklet for the international rose exhibition of the GDR 1972 For the international rose exhibition of the GDR 1972 the Ministry for post office and telecommunications of the German Democratic Republic issues a special postage stamp book with three multicolored special postage stamps (2nd special edition of the Michel number 1764, 1767, 1768 13. June 1972 in smaller format). The stamps and the envelope show different types of roses. No First Day Cover International Rose Exhibition 1972 in Erfurt A special highlight of the iga year (1) 1972 is the International Rose Exhibition, in which participants from eleven European countries review their best production and breeding results in a performance comparison. This largest event of its kind in the GDR gains particular importance by the demonstration of numerous new varieties of field roses and roses under glass and plastic. The intensive and successful breeding work of the last years in our republic is the reason to publish a stamp series for the International Rose Exhibition 1972, which presents six of the best rose varieties in the GDR. 35 Pfennig Wert Professor Knöll "Professor Knöll" is a new breed of GPG "Red October", Bad Langensalza. This strain is one of the best and most popular tea hybrids. It shows oversized, noble-shaped flowers in bright crimson red color by autumn. Due to its excellent luminosity, it is particularly suitable as a bed rose and for cutting. It reaches a height of 60 to 70 cm. (1) International Horticultural Exhibition
