The graphic designer has rightly opted for an optimistic design. The joyfully animated countenance of the ostensibly designed young Vietnamese woman is not intended to cover up the heavy, privation-filled everyday life, but it reflects confidence in the inevitable victory. It is marked by the great successes that Vietnam's fighting people have achieved over the greatest power of imperialism. So a legitimate, a happy smile, because the workers, peasants and soldiers of the Vietnamese homeland convey to the anti-imperialist liberation movements of the world the important doctrine that a country like North Vietnam has chosen the socialist development path and is closely connected with the Soviet Union and other socialist brother states is, can never be overcome. The GDR special postage stamps "Invincible Vietnam" have become indispensable in the diversity of political, moral and material solidarity with this admirable people of Indochina. From the solidarity surcharge of 5 pfennigs each, the Vietnam Committee of the German Democratic Republic has been able to receive 1,598,291.34 marks to finance material assistance. This made it possible to transport more medicines, urgently needed teaching materials for schools, necessary agricultural equipment, textiles and other goods to meet the needs and conditions of the country by ship or air to the Democratic Republic of Vietnam. So whoever buys special postage stamps of Vietnam solidarity, not only manifests a personal attitude of high political and human morality, he is also one of those who express their solidarity by the helping act. And that will be necessary beyond the victory of the Vietnamese people even if it can devote its creative powers exclusively to the further construction of a peaceful life.
