Important Personalities, Edition 1971 The Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications of the German Democratic Republic publishes six special postage stamps with illustrations of important personalities. No special first-day cover GDR honors eminent scientists, writers and artists WILLI BREDEL was born on 2 May 1901 in Hamburg, the son of a tobacco worker. His way from the proletarian to a worker correspondent and outstanding writer of our socialist national literature was connected with his political function as a Communist Party of Germany, prisoner of reaction and fascism, agitator in the trenches before Stalingrad, co-creator of socialist culture in the German Democratic Republic and president the Academy of Arts. In his stories, reports, film scenarios and essays, in his great romance trilogies "relatives and acquaintances" and "A New Chapter" this way is traceable. He led the defeat of the proletariat to the victory of the German working class in the German Democratic Republic. In Willi Bredel's life and work, the self-liberation of the working class from the shackles of capitalist incapacitation and its rise to the ruling class of the nation is also visible in Germany. On October 27, 1964, the writer died in Berlin.
