This year's stamp from the series "Christmas" adorns one of the most famous motifs of the New Testament: the Virgin Mary with the Child Jesus. The representation can be found on a window in the Catholic parish of St. Stephan zu Mainz. Created this window, as well as eight more in the Stephanskirche, the French painter of Russian-Jewish origin Marc Chagall. The works of art created between 1978 and 1985 are a great sign of Jewish-Christian solidarity, of peace and reconciliation. In December 1976, Marc Chagall began with the design for the first center window in the East Choir. After the artist died on March 28, 1985, the parish of St. Stephen received the last windows for the transept on May 11th. Chagall's pupil and friend Charles Marq created another 19 windows by the year 2000 - some of them based on original sketches by Chagall. Since then, the church has been completely submerged in the mysterious, calm blue light of 28 windows. Self-adhesive, available as set of 10.
