The welfare stamp series 1970 is the 21st additional stamp series of the Deutsche Bundespost in favor of the free welfare. The proceeds for the surcharges will go to the Federal Association of the Free Welfare. Six welfare organizations have joined forces in this working group: - Arbeiterwohlfahrt, - Diakonisches Werk, - German Caritas Association, - German Joint Welfare Association, - German Red Cross, - Central Welfare Office of the Jews in Germany. The total proceeds from the charity stamp series in 1969 amounted to about 11 million DM. It is hoped that the 1970 series reaches or even exceeds this amount. That would be a considerable sum, especially considering that it is made up of single donations of 5, 10, 15 or 25 pfennigs. These funds help voluntary welfare organizations fulfill their role of providing assistance wherever public aid is lacking or insufficient. The model for this angel are figures from the crib of the Ursuline nunnery in Innsbruck, 18th century. (Template: illustrations from the Puppentheatersammlung Munich)
