The Christmas stamp 1994 shows as a motif the modern icon "Christi Geburt". This relief icon made of birch wood is one of the early works of the 1920 born in Salzburg icon painter Prof.Dipl.-Ing.Dr. Anton Wollenek. The Christmas icon follows the age-old three-part structure of sacred images, whereby the essential image scene is depicted in the middle vertical picture strip. The right-hand strip of the icon shows the arrival of the Magi in the usual way. On the opposite side of the icon you can see the rushing shepherds.
