Christmas in pictures of late Gothic often found its representation. Each image had the task of proclaiming a message of salvation in a generally understandable way. The present account of the "Nativity" captivates with its clear, simple picture structure and captivates you with its popular expression. Unfortunately, the creator of the work is not known by name, artgeographically but seems an assignment in the area of southern Styria likely. However, the remaining fragments of the winged altar reveal individual peculiarities, which integrate the depiction in the Krainburg altar into a number of other similar ones, which come from one and the same master (workshop).
