Together with the 40th opening of the Christmas Post Office Christkindl on December 1, 1889, a motif from the pilgrimage church of this place was used for the first time as a Christmas brand motif. The origin of the pilgrimage to the Christkindl dates back to 1695. The present church was begun in 1702 by the Italian master builder Giovanni Battista Carlone and completed in 1708 by Jakob Prandtauer. The brand motif shows a detail from the picture of mercy of Johann Carl von Resfeld from the altar of the parish church of Christkindl. Inspired by the name of the place, the Austrian postal administration decided in 1950 to set up a special post office there with a special postmark during the Christmas period. Austrian Post has remained true to this tradition to this day.
