Although considerable objections existed to represent this difficult, so easily illustrative tempting enticing theme on the narrow area of the brand, the Federal Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications was the wishes of the committees involved, the working group of the top associations of the free welfare and of the business association Ruhrbergbau, but do not close it. In common consultation with these associations, it was decided to present the following motives on the individual values: The image of the young, nameless miner is to express the thanks of mankind to their unknown helpers, who in hard, laborious work are the basic materials essential to the life of each individual to bring to light. The local coalmine mining coal. The miner at the fully mechanized coal mining. The hitter at the filling station, who attentively monitors the safety of the mine operation. The particularly difficult task was entrusted to four artists who had the necessary experience in this technical field from their previous work. The graphic artists Bert Jäger, Heinz Schwabe and Prof. Hermann Schardt have each delivered one design series to Ernst Adolf Wuttke. In close consultation with the interested expert circles, the art advisory board selected the suggestions of Bert Jäger, who managed to place the individual motifs in the small area in a brand-appropriate way by means of strict lines and a clear layout of the areas.
