PostEurope's theme for the 2004 Europa stamps is "Holidays". The Austrian contribution "Blumenfeld" comes from the artist Eva Fuchs. Holidays have become more important than ever in our modern age, which is characterized by overload and hectic rush. But also this recovery time is developing into a stress factor: more and more people do not want to renounce the habit of becoming busy and rush on holiday to more and more sports, action and adventure, the more entertainment is offered, the better. Holiday regions and hotels rely on a "round the clock" care of the guests to stay attractive. Being able to simply drop - "dangle with the soul" - has almost become an art that needs to be learned anew. Under the new slogan "Wellness" begins a return to the needs of the own body and the soul. Austria offers its guests entertainment everything their heart desires, but invites with its diverse scenic beauties, its patches of untouched nature and peaceful tranquility, even during the holidays to enjoy some time for themselves once again. Lie on a warm summer's day in a fragrant field of wild flowers, close your eyes and listen only to the voices of birds and the buzzing of insects, once without hustle and bustle and just like that - even those are Ferien.Die artist Eva Fuchs - one Granddaughter of the landscape painter Angelie Postl - lives and works in her native city of Vienna. She met Ernst Fuchs in 1958 and became not only his pupil but also his wife. She is a very versatile artist - her artistic work includes not only nature and nude drawing, watercolor and oil painting, but also jewelry design. She is also the author of an award-winning children's book.
