The longest covered, so-covered wooden bridge in Europe measures 200 meters and connects the German bath Säckingen with the Swiss stone in the canton of Aargau. Already in the Middle Ages a wooden bridge was built at the present location. This first construction and many later bridges were destroyed by disasters or wars. But the bridge was built again and again despite high costs. This gave u.a. the monastery Säckingen quick access to its possessions on the other side of the Rhine. Today's bridge construction was built in the years after 1810. Since 1979, it serves exclusively cyclists and pedestrians. (Joint edition with Switzerland)
