FIBT - Fédération Internationale de Bobsleigh et de Tobogganing, the International Federation of Bobsleigh and Skeleton, was founded in 1923 in Paris. The FIBT currently comprises 36 member countries. Bobsleigh World Championships have been around since 1924. By 1930, a crew consisted of four or five crew members, often employing one or two women. In 1930, the FIBT decided the team strength of four people, namely men, as well as the helmet requirement. World Championships in two- and four-man bobsled since 1931, Oberhof was the first host in the two-man bob. With the held from 4 to 17 February 1991 World Championships in bobsleigh, the Altenberg ice rink experiences its peak so far. These World Championships are a novelty because they are the first World Championships in a united Germany.
