The special stamps of the series »For Sport« appear with surcharges in favor of the »Stiftung Deutsche Sporthilfe«. The aggregate proceeds support the Foundation's work in all areas of sport. The »2006 FIFA World Cup Germany ™« is getting closer and becoming more and more present. This is ensured by World Cup posters, articles and advertisements in magazines as well as reports on television and on the radio. And in some places, the World Cup provides sensational spectacles: in Hamburg, for example, blue gates made of fluorescent tubes are attached to the most striking towers in the city, in which shots are projected by laser beams. Something comparable also takes place in Frankfurt am Main, where one plans a so-called SkyArena. Between the eleven widely visible bank towers in the city center, balls projected by laser should fly back and forth - accompanied by suitable music. This will certainly be the beginning of this sporting event of superlatives, the »opening match in Munich« on June 9, 2006. The exceptionally designed arena holds about 60,000 spectators. From August 20 to September 3, 2006, the international equestrian sports elite will meet at the »Equestrian World Championships in Aachen«. The organizers expect around half a million spectators from Germany and abroad at the Aachen-Laurensburger Rennverein. It is the same area where the prestigious World Equestrian Festival, the »CHIO Aachen«, takes place every year. At the Equestrian World Championships in Aachen, around 800 athletes from 50 nations will be among the titles in seven disciplines. In addition to show jumping, competitions will be held in dressage, eventing (eventing), four-in-hand team driving, vaulting, endurance riding and reining (western riding). The sports event of the year, which is the second largest in Germany after the World Cup, will be broadcasted by television stations in 140 countries - 40 states will even report live from Aachen. The "Final in Berlin" concludes on 9th July to determine the world champion team. The presumably sold-out house will see more than 60,000 spectators in the renovated Berlin Olympic Stadium.
