It has proved to be very fortunate that the company ÖAF Gräf & Stift cares about their history through a club for the promotion of historic vehicles. The association has undertaken to maintain, restore and bring the existing 23 commercial and passenger cars into running order. A historic rarity is, of course, the Gräf & Stift type 40/45 built in 1913/14 dar. The car was used because of special Berggängigkeit and reliability by the last Austrian emperor, Charles I, during troop visits on all fronts of the First World War. After his abdication he took it to Switzerland. The car was bought in 1974 by the company ÖAF Gräf & Stift for 190,000 SFr and returned to Austria. The cost of the restoration amounted to S 1,6 million with over 2,000 man-hours worked by skilled workers. Details can be found on the homepage of the Kunsthistorisches Museum. Currently the vehicle is on permanent loan from the company Gräf & Stift in the wagon castle of Schönbrunn Palace. Data of the car: Gräf & Stift gasoline engine four-cylinder in series, 7.36 lt capacity, 125 mm bore, 150 mm stroke, 40 hp, inner cone friction clutch, Gräf & pin four-speed gearbox, 1 reverse gear, gear shift, cardan drive and differential gear, (first) electric Bosch headlights.
