Friedensreich Hundertwasser, born on December 15 in Vienna as Friedrich Stowasser, condemned by his opponents, despised chiefly by professional architects, mocked by some self-criticized art critics as "Behübscher", has received much admiration, rejection and enthusiasm like no one else In addition, more than an artist has spread misunderstandings, malice and wrongful judgments over him, while the most successful exhibitions around the world have been enthusiastically received by thousands of visitors. It is clear that he did not make it easy for many, but behind them was a very positive force, namely the relentless conviction of his task and an almost religious enthusiasm for his goals. The question "What did Hundertwasser want?" answered the artist himself with his work "Hundertwasser about Hundertwasser": "I want to live, to show the people, formerly a paradise, paradise is there, we just ruin it - and all that religions and the dogmas and the different political directions promising, that is all nonsense, and of course I come into conflict with society, which completely misunderstands this. " Noteworthy is his commitment to the Austrian stamp (1974/75), where he found a congenial engraver in Professor Wolfgang Seidel. Around the world, stamps of his hand appeared as masterpieces of art. The memorial stamp block shows the work of the artist "Blue Blues", who died on February 19, 2000, in four color variants.
