In 1955, with the signing of the State Treaty and the decision of the permanent armed neutrality of Austria, the creation of the Federal Army of the Second Republic became necessary. The government's main concern was not to create a military vacuum after the withdrawal of the occupation soldiers. After determining the State Treaty, the last occupying soldier had to leave Austria 90 days after its entry into force - ie on October 25, 1955. Under this time pressure, the government had to create the legal conditions for the formation of the Federal Army. This was done with the resolution on the military law on September 7, 1955, which defined as fundamental tasks of the new federal army, the protection of the borders of the Republic, the protection of constitutional institutions, the maintenance of order and security in the interior as well as assistance in natural disasters and the Formation of the Federal Army as a cadre army on the basis of general conscription provided. In 1965, the Federal Army formed a UN battalion, which was deployed abroad at the request of international organizations, such as Cyprus. The brand image shows Austrian soldiers in camouflage uniform.
