The Nebra Sky Disk is the world's oldest concrete representation of the cosmos. It was excavated in the summer of 1999 on the Mittelberg near Nebra (Saxony-Anhalt) and is one of the most important archaeological finds of the last century. It is a diameter of about 32 centimeters large bronze disc with gold overlays that depict stars, constellations and the paths of the sun and the moon. The age of the Sky Disc is unknown. Based on the additions of the disc - swords, hatchets, chisels and bracelets - one can deduce that the disc was buried about 3,600 years ago. The sky disc can be seen in the State Museum of Prehistory in Halle an der Saale.
