For the four special stamps "Animals around the World" a poster artist of international renown could be won. Claude Kuhn is a master of reduction - and surprising color schemes. Claude Kuhn, born in 1948, was a graphic artist, art director and exhibition designer in natural history Museum Bern after 40 years of training. In addition, he worked as a freelance designer and made, among other things, with sports posters (boxes, fencing) furore. Kuhn's works are regularly exhibited internationally. The list of his awards and prizes is impressive. For him, the ones he has received at various international poster triennials are the most important. In 1992, he was particularly pleased to be named Sports Artist of the Year. The subjects of the special stamps show exotic animals from all over the world in a Kuhn-typical, striking and surprising way. The ellipse is the connecting element. It symbolizes a habitat hole and clouds in the meerkat stamp, a puddle in the flamingo stamp, a treetop in the giraffe stamp and the steppe and its dung in the zebra stamp - of course in gold, because this zebra is a "gold zebra".
