Christiane Hörbiger is one of the most successful actresses in the German-speaking world. As a daughter of Paula Wessely and Attila Hörbiger she was already born of great talent. Born on October 13, 1938 in Vienna, Christiane Hörbiger was sent to a convent school like her sisters Maresa Hörbiger and Elisabeth Orth. By the will of the parents, "Nannerl" was supposed to be a pastry cook, but she prevailed with her desire to become an actress. Despite her blitz career in film - at age 16 she got her first movie role - she learned the profession from scratch. She took acting classes at the Reinhard Seminar. Engagements in film repeatedly interrupted their education. For private teachers, especially with Alma Seidler, she completed her drama, dance and singing education. At the age of 19 Christiane Hörbiger stood on the stage of the Burgtheater for the first time. In Vienna, however, she was constantly compared to the acting greats of her family. The young actress therefore left Vienna and set up her own career in Heidelberg, Munich and Zurich. For 25 years Christiane Hörbiger played the greatest roles of theater literature on the most renowned stages of the German-speaking world. She succeeded in stepping out of the shadows of her parents and making a name for herself on her own. With her comedy, her charm and her incomparable style she is the incarnation of the "Grand Dame". The precision of her great acting brought her also the film appropriate successes. From the 80s, the television became aware of them. Through her leading roles in many television series, she played in the hearts of millions of audiences. In the course of her career, Christiane Hörbiger has received numerous awards, including the Golden Camera and several times with a Romy as the most popular actress. As one of the few women she was awarded the Karl-Valentin-Medal. The Republic of Austria honored her work with the honorary cross for science and art 1st class and with the appointment as chamber actress.
