On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the introduction of the telephone in Germany, the German Federal Post publishes a »Philipp Reis« commemorative stamp. Johann Philipp Reis, born 1834 in Gelnhausen, died 1874 in Friedrichsdorf near Bad Homburg, introduced on October 26, 1861 for the first time devices for electrical voice transmission, from which the telephone emerged.
