On October 19, 1913, the final stone was laid by Emperor Franz Joseph I and thus the solemn opening of the Vienna Konzerthaus. In the late 19th century. The lack of suitable venues had become apparent due to the expanding concert life in Vienna. For in addition to the court orchestra and the court opera, the building of the "Gesellschaft der Musikfreunde" had been available for concert performances since 1812 alone. Already in 1895 the planning of the Konzerthaus project had begun. Difficulties in funding delayed the start of construction. It was not until the inaugural general assembly of the Wiener Konzerthaus-Gesellschaft that the way to commence construction on 9 December 1911 was clear. In addition to the impressive architectural construction work, the cultural programming of the Vienna Konzerthaus is world-famous.
