After the Second World War, the Allied occupying forces initially issued a ban on all Germans. But the first federal government under Chancellor Konrad Adenauer created the legal basis for the resumption of air traffic with the approval of the Allies, set up the state aviation administration and began with the rebuilding of air traffic control. On 1 April 1955 airplanes began their first scheduled flights in Hamburg and Munich - before the Paris treaties came into force on 5 May 1955. Through this the Federal Republic received its state sovereignty and own air sovereignty. From May 1955, Paris, Madrid and London were also served. The first scheduled North Atlantic flight took place on June 8, 1955.
