Special edition on the 50th anniversary of the death of Heinrich v. Stephans. Stephan was born on January 7, 1831 in Stolp. He was the organizer of the German postal service. After he had been postmaster-general of the North German Confederation since 1870 and from 1876 the German Reich, he held from 1880 the office of State Secretary of the Reich Post Office and from 1895 the Minister of State. His special achievements include the introduction of the postcard and the phone. In 1874 he founded the Universal Postal Union, which regulated the international postal traffic. He died in Berlin on April 8, 1897. The catalog numbers 911 to 970 are postage stamps that were valid for both the American and British zones as well as in the Soviet occupation zone. In the US and British zones until June 22, 1948, in the Soviet zone until July 31, 1948.
