Wenzel Jamnitzer, born in Vienna in 1508, was the most famous goldsmith of the Renaissance. As a young man, he moved to the Free Imperial City of Nuremberg, which at that time was a center of arts and crafts in Europe. At the age of 26, Jamnitzer acquired the title of master craftsman. His artistry quickly spread to Europe's princely houses. The German emperors regularly ordered works from his workshop. Jamnitzer not only achieved fame in the art world as a goldsmith, but also as an author. In his work »Perspectiva Corporum Regularium«, which deals with the perspectival right picture of geometric bodies, he captured his knowledge for posterity. Jamnitzer died in 1585 in Nuremberg.
