500 years Schiffer-Compagnie Stralsund On the occasion of the 500th anniversary of the Schiffer-Compagnie Stralsund, the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications of the German Democratic Republic publishes four multicolored special postage stamps with pictures of sailing ships, so-called captain's pictures. Special cancellation from September 20 to November 19, 1988 500 years Schiffer-Compagnie Stralsund - Captain's pictures 5 Pfennig value: The brig "Adolph Friedrich" was built in 1863 and registered by the Schiffer-Compagnie Stralsund under the number 60. The ship, led by Captain C. Leplow, was one of the most economically viable vessels of its time. The picture was painted by the painter E. Laschke after 1872. The ship and captains' names on the stamps correspond to the original names of the Captain's pictures.
