"That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind" - with this radio message astronaut Neil Armstrong wrote history on July 21, 1969. He was the first person to set foot on the moon. Worldwide, around 600 million people watched the scene in blurry, almost spooky black and white television images. The lunar module "Eagle" had landed on the earth satellite on July 20th. About six hours after the landing, Neil Armstrong stepped out and entered the lunar surface at 3.56 pm Central European Time. Shortly thereafter, his colleague Buzz Aldrin followed, while the third astronaut, Michael Collins, circled the moon in the mothership. Designed by René Sager and Jwan Reber, the subject "50 years of manned moon landing" shows an astronaut on a moonwalk, much as seen on the television image of the transmission at that time. The brand was first created as a pencil drawing and then digitally revised. The miniature sheet illustrates how the spectacle has been experienced in many living rooms in Switzerland: despite the late-night hour, the whole family was gathered in front of the TV and followed the first steps on the moon.
