The Hahnenkamm race in Kitzbühel on the Streif and on the "Ganslern" slope is a highlight of the current World Cup ski season every winter. The hosting of the 1st Tyrolean Ski Championships in January 1905 was the first organized Kitzbühel ski event. Starting in 1926, the establishment of the Hahnenkamm cable car and the installation of the Streif downhill course created the conditions for the professional organization of ski races. The first Hahnenkamm winner in 1931 was Jakob Lackner. Since then, many famous ski athletes, such as Anderl Molterer, Karl Schranz or Franz Klammer, through their successes inseparably connected with this ski race track.
