The brand image shows two postal buses, one from 1957 and one from 1907. For the transport of letters, parcels and passengers by automobiles, the military was the first in Austria. Once these had proven themselves, the Austrian Post and Telegraph Administration wanted to make greater use of this possibility. A test track between Neumarkt and Predazzo in South Tyrol was set up. This was opened on 6.August 1907 with two festively decorated Daimler buses. If there were only seven in 1908, in 1914 there were already 37 post bus lines with 116 automobiles serving passenger traffic. The First World War brought this development to an abrupt end. In the rapid expansion after the war succeeded until 1932 again 232 postbus lines to lead. The Second World War also had serious consequences. So it was in 1945, only 16 postbus lines that served on 480 route kilometers their service. Again, great efforts were needed to transport 57 million passengers with a fleet of 1,670 automobiles in 1956 to 500 postbus lines with a simple route length of 17,000 kilometers throughout Austria. In addition to the issue of this special postage stamp on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the postbus lines, there was also a traveling exhibition in 1957, which was shown in more than 40 locations in Austria.
