25 years German Democratic Republic In honor of the 25th anniversary of the German Democratic Republic, the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications of the GDR publishes a multi-colored special postage stamp block. No special first-day envelope Twenty-five years of the German Democratic Republic Thousands and thousands of working people welcomed the birth of the German Democratic Republic in Berlin in the evenings of October 7, 1949, which had recently been proclaimed by the Provisional People's Chamber, which had emerged from the German People's Council. From many wishes and hopes - originated from the experiences of a bitter past - the founding of the GDR was accompanied. After 25 years, the balance shows that the expectations and hopes of the October days of 1949 have been met and exceeded. On the side of the Soviet Union and the other socialist states, the GDR has developed into an efficient and internationally recognized state. Under the leadership of the Socialist Unity Party of Germany, the working-class and all other working people made the centuries-old wishes of the most progressive forces of the German people a reality in the GDR. For the first time in history, the GDR developed a German state of social progress and social justice. With the founding of the GDR in the east of the former imperialist and aggressive Germany, the anti-fascist-democratic upheaval grew into the socialist revolution. In the first decade of the GDR, under the leadership of the SED, all the workers in the close fraternity with the Soviet Union and the other socialist states essentially fulfilled the tasks of the socialist revolution. Since the beginning of the sixties, the developed socialist society has been growing successfully. The continuous development of the GDR is also a significant contribution to the international class struggle between socialism and capitalism. The GDR always acted according to the knowledge: the stronger the socialism, the safer the peace. Thus, since the beginning of its existence, the GDR has played an important role in the increasingly developing atmosphere of relaxation and in the victory of the policy of peaceful coexistence between states of different social order. In this sense, already with the founding of the GDR, the aggressive intentions of the international monopoly capital, which speculated on a remilitarized imperialist Germany for the "correction" of the post-war development, were blocked and thus a threatening battlefield eliminated. All this justifies the statement that the founding of the GDR marked a turning point in the history of Europe and of the German people. In the 25th year of its existence, the entire development of the GDR is crucially dependent on the successful realization of the decisions of the Vlll. Party Congress of the SED of June 1971. The anchoring of the GDR in the socialist community becomes ever stronger. With the active participation in the socialist economic integration and the coordinated foreign policy of the states of the Warsaw Treaty, the GDR corresponds to the legally unfolding objective internationalist nature of socialism. Socialism becomes stronger as a world system. At the same time this forms the decisive deposit for the successful realization of the Vlll. The main task of the SED Party Congress was to further increase the material and cultural living standards of the working people. The great efforts to fulfill the main task are accompanied by extensive social policies that make the lives of all working people richer and more beautiful. More and more people logically and consistently recognize social order in socialism, which guarantees the realization of their interests and wishes permanently and effectively. This is especially the time after the Vlll. The SED Party Congress is characterized by a variety of initiatives and ideas to increase labor productivity and to improve working and living conditions in all areas. These processes are an expression of how the SED, as the leading political force in the GDR, has continued to evolve and strengthen itself. The SED is constantly in a better position to recognize and guide the interests of society as a whole, thereby meeting new and higher requirements. The members of the SED are increasingly becoming the engine of mass initiatives everywhere, initiators in the struggle for new and greater goals. Thus, the 25th anniversary of the founding of the GDR also shows that the good record provides all guarantees for the further successful development of the first German workers 'and peasants' state in the circle of the socialist family of peoples. The GDR will continue to be one of the pioneers of social progress in the world.
