On the stamp a Goethe is depicted on a relief by Angelika Facius, which was formed after a bust of the sculptor Christian Daniel Rauch. Rauch was born on 2 January 1777 in Arolsen. His works belong after Schadow to the most important of the German classicism. They include statues, sarcophagi and portrait busts. The bust of Goethe was created in 1820 and shows the poet in profile. On 3 December 1857 Rauch died in Dresden.
